Kevin Magnussen has confirmed that he will watching Formula
One from the pit-wall this season. The Dane lost his McLaren-Honda race seat at
the end of last year after the Woking based outfit decided to pair Fernando
Alonso with Jenson Button from the 2015 season onwards. Both Alonso and Button
have been signed to the team on multi-year contracts.
It had been thought that Magnussen would be given a chance
to drive the new Honda powered McLaren MP4-30 during Free Practice sessions
over the course of the season, however this will not be the case.
Replying to a Q&A on his official Twitter feed Magnussen
stated:
‘No Friday practises for me this year. I will be watching from the
pitwall :)
It is not yet clear whether or not Magnussen will drive the
new car during winter testing which gets underway next month in Jerez from
February 1 – 4. McLaren have yet to confirm their plans for the upcoming test
days in Jerez and Barcelona.
2015 Formula One Winter Testing schedule:
February 1- 4 Jerez, Spain
February 19 – 22 Barcelona, Circuit de Catalunya
February 26 – 2 March Barcelona, Circuit de Catalunya
