Drivers to be limited to one helmet design per season

(Sahara Force India Formula One Team)

Formula One drivers will no longer be allowed to alternate between their helmet designs after the FIA, the teams and the commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone decided by allowing drivers to have just one helmet design per season in helps to market the sport better.

The new regulation which along with the drivers numbers which were introduced last season will be written into the 2015 Sporting regulations and will enable fans to identify the driver they support more easily both when they see them on track but also on television.

The change means that we are unlikely to see special ‘one off’ promotional helmets which were used at the likes of Monaco and then auctioned off to raise money for charity.

The regulation change also means that we will not see Sebastian Vettel with a new helmet design during ever session of Formula One race weekend. The German is well known for wearing helmets with different designs at nearly every race weekend during his career with Infiniti Red Bull Racing.
