Former Caterham F1 Team driver Will Stevens has secured a race drive with the Manor F1 Team for 2015 provided the outfit gets back onto the Formula One grid,

Stevens who made his Formula One debut with the Caterham F1 Team at the 2014 season ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last November has been named as one of the Manor F1 Team’s drivers after the team agreed a verbal contract with Ferrari for a supply of 2014 power units for this season.

There are just over two weeks to go until the first race of the 2015 Formula One season and with that in mind the team have a race against time to prepare their cars. They are still await clearance to race in F1 this season having been denied permission recently by the Sahara Force India Formula One Team however their bid to return to the F1 grid has been backed by the FIA.

The fact that the team have announced Stevens as one of their drivers means that they are confident of making the grid this season as they would not have gambled by making the announcement if something was not happening.

The team have missed all of winter testing however there has been a suggestion that they could in theory make an appearance at this weeks’ final test in Barcelona however in reality this seems unlikely.

Speaking about the news Stevens who drove as test and reserve driver for Manor last season when they were Marussia thanked the teams’ suppliers and the sport for all of their support over the last few months. The team have now officially come out of administration and have paid the FIA entry fee.
