Sahara Force India deputy team principal Robert Fernley has conceded
that the Silverstone based outfit may not get to run their new car the VJM08 at
all during winter testing as a result in a number of delays in putting the new
car together.
The team failed to make it to this weeks’ opening test in
Jerez as the outfit were looking to use the time in the Toyota wind tunnel
however it has now emerged that the deal to use the Toyota wind tunnel in
Cologne which was announced in December has yet to be signed.
The team have also had problems with various suppliers in
getting parts delivered for the new car as they have been unwilling to provide
the parts on the credit terms that the team had been looking for as a result of
the situation with Manor and Caterham.
The Silverstone based outfit have not ruled out running last
year’s car at the first of the Barcelona tests which gets underway on Thursday
19th February.
Fernley said that they were looking into running the new
race tyres from Pirelli on the old car in Barcelona along with some driver
work. Fernley also told the BBC that at the moment it is a race against time to
get the car ready for the final test in Barcelona which gets underway on
February 26th.
As it stands the team hope to get at least one day of
running done in the new car at the final test but this may not be possible.
