The McLaren Honda Formula One Team enjoyed their most
successful test day of the winter in Barcelona on Friday.
Fernando Alonso who took over from team mate Jenson Button
managed to complete 59 laps over the course of the day and ended up in seventh
place just behind the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg.
Alonso completed the mileage
despite the fact that Honda discovered a problem with a seal on their MGU-K on
Thursday and as a result required a redesign and won’t be ready until tomorrow.
Alonso may have completed the laps due to the fact that it
is set to rain at the Barcelona Circuit de Catalunya tomorrow so the team may
have wanted to get as much dry running done as possible just in case it does
indeed rain.
However the Woking based outfit can be encouraged by the
mileage that Alonso racked up on Friday as it is extremely encouraging.
