The Williams Martini Racing Team had another productive day
at the Barcelona Circuit de Catalunya with Felipe Massa taking over from where
Susie Wolff left off on Thursday.
The Brazilian completed 88 laps for the Grove based outfit
on his way to ending the day in third place overall with a time of 1m 24.672s
just 0.098s shy of Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo’s overall fastest
time of the day.
Following his first day in the FW37 Massa said:
'The car has a lot of potential and today we realised some of that but we still have a lot of work to do. We completed the programme for the day without any unexpected issues. The work on tyres this afternoon gave us a lot of good data which we now have to look at. Getting more laps in the FW37 is important for the continued development of the car.'
The team have now completed 174 laps over the opening two
days of testing at Barcelona Circuit de Catalunya. Speaking following the day’s
on track action Williams Martini Racing’s Chief test and support engineer Rod
Nelson stated:
'It has been another productive day. Barcelona is a good representative circuit so the data we get here is very useful. We had a lot of work to do with Felipe which we covered. Our focus is moving from reliability and long runs to more performance based tests and I am pleased with how the car has run so far in Barcelona.'
Felipe Massa will be back in the car on Saturday morning
while Valtteri Bottas will be the cockpit tomorrow afternoon.
