Better atmosphere and greater openness at McLaren this time

(McLaren-Honda)

McLaren-Honda’s Fernando Alonso has stated that the team is a far better environment to work in this time around compared to his first year with the team in 2007.

The Woking based outfit endured a difficult initial winter test at the Jerez circuit in Spain this week. The Spaniard completed 38 laps over the two days that he was in the MP4-30. Alonso who originally joined McLaren in 2007 as reigning world champion replacing Kimi Raikkonen believes that the radical design of the MP4-30 and the arrival of Honda shows that the team are open to new ideas and have a new way of thinking.

Despite the limited running for McLaren Honda this week, with just 79 laps under their belt, Fernando Alonso sees real potential in the new partnership.

Alonso is also delighted with Honda’s approach and how passionate the Japanese manufacturer is not just about their new partnership with Honda but also with Formula One. Alonso also believes that with Honda if they want to achieve something than that will happen.

The team will be back in action in Barcelona for the next test which gets underway in two weeks’ time from February 19-22.
