(McLaren-Honda)
Fernando Alonso has said that he feels that he has matured
as a driver and as a person since his first period at McLaren in 2007 when he
drove alongside Lewis Hamilton. It was confirmed on Thursday that the Spaniard
has joined Jenson Button at McLaren Honda on a two year contract.
Alonso has stated that the past with Ron Dennis is just that
in the past and that now they are friends again and have held meetings together
on several occasions.
Alonso said that he is very enthusiastic and tivated about
the new McLaren-Honda partnership. He confirmed that he had some ‘interesting
offers’. However he stated that there are two main reasons as to why he
returned to McLaren was the commitment made by the team like the addition of
Peter Pedromou to the team.
He also felt that he has unfinished business, echoing the
sentiments expressed by Ron Dennis this morning.
Alonso went on to thank Ferrari for the time that he spent working
with the team and that he wanted a change in his career with the ‘new project’.
