Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo believes that he will be in a position to challenge for the world championship in 2015. The Australian who stepped up to the Milton Keynes based outfit in 2014 finished in third place in the Formula One drivers championship behind the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Ricciardo was the only non-Mercedes driver to win Grand Prix in 2014 having won at the Canadian, Hungarian and Belgian Grand Prix.

Ricciardo was not expected to challenge Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull this season however, not only did he match the German, on several occasions this season he comprehensively beat him. In 2015, Ricciardo will be joined at Red Bull by Daniil Kvyat as Sebastian Vettel has joined Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari.

Ricciardo stated that the team were frustrated at losing out on the number 1 slot in the pit-lane for next season. He believes that as a result the team are hungrier than others to ensure that they get back on top in 2015.

The Australian scored eight podium finishes in 2014, and is hopeful if he is given a competitive car next season that he will be capable of winning the championship.
