(Sahara Force India Formula One Team)
The Sahara Force India Formula One team have confirmed that they will be using Toyota Motorsports GmbH wind tunnel in Cologne, Germany as the nominate site for aerodynamic testing from 2015 onwards.
The Silverstone based outfit's wind tunnel facility in Brackley, United Kingdom will remain operational and will be available to be used by external customers. Force India are not the only Formula One team to have made use of Toyota's facility when their new wind tunnel was under construction in Maranello.
The Caterham F1 Team also used to the facility in Germany to develop their cars. Speaking about the announcement Sahara Force India team principal and managing director Dr Vijay Mallya stated:
'The decision to use Toyota’s facility in Cologne is indicative of our ambitions to continue as a competitive force in Formula One. It’s one of the most significant decisions in our history and gives us access to what is regarded as one of the finest wind tunnels in the world.
We have used the facility previously on an ad hoc basis and we are aware of the advantages of basing all our aerodynamic research in Cologne. It will strengthen our approach and give us a solid base to build upon for the years to come.'
