Button reiterates his desire to remain at McLaren in 2015

McLaren's Jenson Button has stated that he would love to extend his stay at McLaren into 2015 as the Woking based outfit embark on a new chapter in their Formula One history with Honda power next season. 

The McLaren board met on Thursday to discuss to the Formula One team's driver line-up for the 2015 season. It is widely expected that former Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso will rejoin the Woking based team next season however as Button pointed out in an interview with Sky Sports News HQ's Rachel Wyse that a deal with the Spaniard is yet to be put in place.

Button and Magnussen have yet to be confirmed for the 2015 Formula One season and although the team did not reach a decision on Thursday according to Sky Sports News HQ's F1 correspondent Craig Slater said that the team want to have their line-up sorted out before the next board meeting which is set to take place early in the new year.

Button was in Edinburgh on Thursday at a Johnnie Walker 'Join The Pact' event to promote the pledge for people not to drink and drive. Button was joined by Kevin Magnussen and former McLaren driver and double world champion Mika Hakkinen who is a road safety ambassador for Johnnie Walker who are a key sponsor of the McLaren F1 Team.

Button revealed to Sky Sports that himself and Kevin Magnussen had spent the past couple of days together and they both really enjoyed themselves.

The 2009 world champion also stated that he will respect McLaren's decision which ever way it goes and should it go against him he revealed that he has a number of projects lined up but would not specify on the details when asked by Rachel Wyse.
