Hulkenberg made Porsche approach regarding LeMans drive

Porsche Motorsports LMP1 team principal Andreas Seidl has revealed that Sahara Force India Formula One team's Nico Hulkenberg approached the German manufacturer about the possibility of racing for the team at the 2015 LeMans 24 Hours.

Seidl confirmed that the team decided to to come up with a deal for the 27 year old Formula One driver as a result of his enthusiasm for the project and that money played no role in the decision on either side. Porsche were really encouraged by Hulkenberg's spirit and along with the LeMans 24 Hours the German will also take part in the six hours of Spa which takes place on May 2.

It has emerged that the team have come up with a special 'road map' to help Hulkenberg to prepare for his debut in the World Endurance Championship starting with a test in a 2014 spec Porsche later this month.

Hulkenberg finished the 2014 Formula One season in ninth place in the championship on 96 points. Porsche already have two full time 919 Hybrid prototype cars racing in the World Endurance Championship in 2015 and that all of their drivers including former Formula One driver Mark Webber for 2015.

Nico Hulkenberg will race a third Porsche 919 Hybrid in the LMP1 category next year.

Hulkenberg will once again race with the Sahara Force India Formula One team alongside current team mate Sergio Perez for the 2015 Formula One season.
