Scuderia Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen has stated that he has
absolutely no concerns about his contract situation.
The Finn is about to start his second season at the
Maranello based outfit after he re-joined the team last season for the first
time since 2009. Raikkonen who had an extremely tough season in 2014 has
confirmed that there is an option for the partnership to continue next season.
He said that the option is both on his and the teams side.
It all depends on how the results go for the Finn, who
struggled to challenge former team mate Fernando Alonso last season.
Sebastian Vettel joins the team from Infiniti Red Bull
Racing so Raikkonen will of course be judged on how he fairs against the four
time world champion. So far in the opening test of the winter Vettel topped the
time sheets on the opening two days while Raikkonen was second fastest on Tuesday
and currently tops the times on the final day of the test.
However as it is the first test of the season, the times are
completely meaningless as the teams work on systems checks and reliability. It
won’t be until we get to Barcelona in two weeks’ time that we will get a real
gauge on the relevant performances of each team.
Raikkonen was happy with his positive start to testing on
Tuesday and once again ignored questions about his motivation which have become
a traditional question for journalists to ask the Finn for his reaction, all
the Iceman would say is that if he wasn’t motivated he wouldn’t be in F1.
