For the first time in recent F1 history a car will carry the number 13

For first time since 1925 the number 13 will be seen on the Formula One grid this season as new Lotus recruit Pastor Maldonado has elected to use that number for the rest of his career.

The number 13 is considered to bean unlucky number and this is why it has not been used in Formula One. However, maybe Maldonado will be  able to turn it into a lucky number for the Lotus F1 Team. It is going to be extremely interesting to see how Pastor gets on with this number.

I have never seen the number 13 in motorsport before, we don't have long to wait to see how he and everyone else gets on as the first race of the season gets underway in nine weeks time.

Do you think the number 13 should be in F1? I find it absolutely incredible that it hasn't been used since 1925.

While Maldonado will have the number 13 his team mate Romain Grosean will retain the number 8 which he used last season.

  1. Its about time, lets be honest its bullshit but it could now give Pastor a little boost if nothing else that is if he stays on the road or if even lotus get a car out this year.
