McLaren may not make first test as reports suggest they have failed some crash tests

(Ben Johnston 2014)

The Lotus F1 Team may not be the only team to miss the opening winter test in Jerez as reports emerging from the UK this evening have suggested that McLaren's 2014 challenger has failed some of the FIA's mandatory crash tests.

The Woking based squad endured an incredibly difficult season in 2013 and if they do miss the first test of the pre season it would be far from ideal. The report comes just a day after it was confirmed that Ron Dennis has been re appointed to the role of McLaren Group CEO to help the team to turn around its on and off track performances.

We will just have to wait and see what happens with McLaren, the team are set to launch their new car next Friday.
