It's official, former Lotus F1 Team principal Eric Boullier has joined McLaren. The Frenchman will take up his new role as Racing Director on Monday.
Speaking about the new appointment, Ron Dennis CEO of the McLaren Group he said 'Eric's appointment is an integral part of a senior management restructure at McLaren Racing.
He also confirmed that Eric will report directly to the teams as yet unnamed new team CEO however, the team's current Managing Director Jonathan Neale has been place in the role of CEO temporarily. who will in turn report to Dennis. Eric's new position is a newly created role within the McLaren Racing team.
Speaking about his new role Boullier described it as an honor, a privilege and a wonderful opportunity.
He also took the opportunity to assure everyone at McLaren that he is committed and determined to match their passion and their commitment to win. The Frenchman joins the Woking based team from Lotus where he spent four year's at the Enstone squad and last season he led Lotus to a fourth place finish in the Constructors championship, while McLaren finished fifth.
There has been no news regarding the future of former McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh. The news comes as the new McLaren MP4-29 took to the track for the first time this morning after a technical fault meant they were unable to test yesterday.
