Morning update: Button currently fastest as Alonso stops out on track

Jenson Button is the current pace setter in Jerez this morning as the 2009 world champion completes his running for McLaren this morning before handing the MP4-29 over to new driver Kevin Magnussen who drive the car this afternoon and tomorrow.

Lewis Hamilton is currently 2nd for Mercedes with Felipe Massa in third for Williams making it three different Mercedes powered teams in the top three. It hasn't been the best start of testing for Fernando Alonso as the Spaniard stopped out on track just after 10AM (UK time). It is unclear what the problem was with the F14T.

The Marussia F1 Team have confirmed that Max Chilton will run their new car, the MR-03 today although they have not said when it will be out on track.

There have been more woes for the Red Bull Racing team as moments ago Daniel Ricciardo brought out the red flags as his car came to a halt with smoke coming out of the rear of the of the RB10. This is far from an ideal situation for the Milton Keynes based squad after they missed a full day of running yesterday following an ERS issue with the new Renault engine.
