The Lotus F1 Team believe that their new car, the E22 complies with the FIA's 2014 regulations. In an interview with the team's official website their technical director Nick Chester said:

"We have passed all the necessary crash tests and we are very confident that our design complies with all the FIA legal requirements"

The Enstone based team are the only F1 outfit to sit out the opening test of the winter testing period, instead opting to run their new car at the first Bahrain test which gets underway next month.

Chester's comments come admit suggestions that the team's 'twin front nose' did not comply with the new regulations for 2014.

The team have said that the new E22 is well advanced in the build phase and they believe that they will be in good shape for the second test in Bahrain which takes place from February 19th - 22nd.
