Lotus F1 Team principal Eric Boullier has confirmed that his teams future in Formula One is secure following the news on Tuesday that his team would miss the first test of the 2014 preseason. The news fueled speculation that the team are struggling with the development of their new car.
The Enstone based squad were due to sign a major investment deal with the Quantom Motorsports Group last season however, the deal kept being postponed and it is now believed that it will not happen after the team announced that they have signed Pastor Maldonado from Williams to replace the Ferrari bound Kimi Raikkonen.
Speaking to the BBC earlier today Eric said that he knows for a fact that his team will not be the only outfit to skip the opening test of the new season.
The fact that the team will miss the first test is a major blow as they will now only have eight days in which to make sure that their cars are reliable and ready for the start of the new season Down Under in Melbourne, Australia on March 16.
During a meeting at the end of last year teams discussed the possibility of postponing the start of testing to allow teams extra time to prepare for this season however this proposal was rejected.
Boullier also confirmed that his team will be on the grid this season and beyond after recent speculation that his team would not be on the grid.
