New Lotus passes mandatory crash tests

The Lotus F1 Team have confirmed that their new car dubbed the E22 has passed the FIA's mandatory homologation tests ahead of the start of preseason testing.

The new car that will be driven by Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado will not make its on track debut until the lot of preseason testing at the Bahrain International Circuit from 19th February.

The team will instead use the time during the opening test in Jerez to work on the development of their new car and are sure that they will be ready for the second test of the preseason. The news comes in the same week that team CEO Gerard Lopez confirmed that the proposed investment deal with the  Quantum Motorsports Group will not go ahead.

The team have secured their financial future for the 2014 eason with the arrival of their new sponsor PDVSA.
