(Ben Johnston 2014)

Former Force India driver Paul Di Resta has confirmed this morning that he will return to the German Touring Car Championship with Mercedes this season.

Despite finishing ahead of his team mate in the championship last year both Di Resta and Adrian Sutil were dropped by the Silverstone outfit after they decided that they wanted a fresh start. the pair have been replaced at the team by former McLaren driver Sergio Perez and former Sauber F1 driver Nico Hulkenberg.

Di Resta made his F1 debut with Force India in 2011 after spending the 2010 season in the German Touring Car Championship while also driving for Force India squad as their Friday test driver.

In confirming his return to DTM, Di Resta hopes that Mercedes will be in a position to give him a competitive car that will allow him to challenge for the championship.
