Pilbeam joins McLaren

(Ben Johnston 2014)

The Lotus F1 Team have suffered a set back following the news that their chief engineer Ciaron Pilbeam has left the team after just a year.

He joined the Lotus F1 Team at the start of last season where he spent a number of season's as Mark Webber's race engineer. Pilbeam joins McLaren in a senior technical role although position within the Woking based outfit has yet to be announced.

It is a further blow to the Lotus F1 Team who have lost a number of senior personnel in recent times. First James Allison left the team to join Ferrari. He was followed to the Italian team by Dirk De Beer and now Pilbeam has left.

It is the latest in a long list of technical personnel changes up and down the pit-lane. So it is going to be extremely interesting to see what happens this season.

The news of Pilbeam's arrival at McLaren comes just a week after Ron Dennis was re appointed CEO of the McLaren Group. The Englishman has stated that he will announce a number of changes within the Formula One team next month.

The team will launch their new car, the MP4-29 tomorrow, however they have already announced that they will be confirming their new title sponsor tomorrow. Their is plenty of anticipation for tomorrow's launch as the Woking team are the first to launch their new car although both Williams and Force India have issued picture's of their new cars.
