Quantum deal called off

(Ben Johnston 2014)

It's official the investment deal between the Quantum Motorsports Group and the Lotus F1 Team have broken down team chairman Gerard Lopez has confirmed this evening.

Speaking to a German magazine Lopez also confirmed that the Lotus F1 Team amassed debts of 114 million last year. £80 million of that debt is owed to Lopez' company Genii Capital who own the Lotus F1 Team.

The team has also been locked in a pay dispute with former driver Kimi Raikkonen who is owed an awful lot of money by the team in outstanding salary payments. Speaking at 2014, Lopez confirmed that the Enstone team have their budget in place with the help of new sponsor PDVSA and he is confident that they will run up any debts this year.

Speaking about Quantom Lopez just said 'The money never arrived'. Despite the teams current money problems Kimi Raikkonen has infact received part payment and will in time be paid in full.

The main thing is that the team will be on grid in 2014 now that they have budget in place.
