It is expected that the Board of Formula One will issue a statement later today following confirmation that Bernie Ecclestonne will face trial on bribery charges arising from the sale of Formula One in 2005.
It is expected that Mr Ecclestone will step down from the board of Formula One however he is likely to remain in charge of the day to day operation of Formula One. Ecclestone has repeated denied any wrong doing.
A spokeswoman for the German prosecutors has confirmed that a trial date is set to be pencilled in for the end of April.
