(McLaren Mercedes)
Former world champion Jenson Button has stated that he has no interest in competing in any other form of motorsport as he remain focused on Formula One. Button who won the championship with Brawn GP in 2009 before moving to McLaren the following season is out of contract with the Woking based outfit at the end of the season however has expressed his desire to stay with the team long term.
McLaren Racing Director Eric Boullier has stated that right now the team are happy with their driver pairing of Kevin Magnussen and Jenson Button. The Frenchman has also stated that Button knows what to do and that is to score as many points as possible between now and the end of the season.
Boullier has also said that Button has nothing to prove to the team as he is a world champion and has won many Grand Prix for the Woking based outfit.
No reason has been given for the stalemate in reaching a new agreement. Button is currently in 8th place in the driver's championship on 60 points and although he scored a podium with a third place finish at the opening race of the season in Melbourne, Australia in March but since then McLaren have struggled in the development race.
The team will bring a major upgrade package to the next race at the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium which the team to help them move up the grid.
