FIA race director Charlie Whiting has confirmed that the Sochi circuit which will host the inaugural Russian Grand Prix on Sunday 12th October will be granted its licence to host a Formula One Grand Prix. Whiting revealed that the circuit will have no problems getting the green light ad that the venue has been completed 60 days ahead of schedule.

The Englishman commented by saying:

'Everything has been done according to the plans – the kerbs are very good, the verges, the guardrails, the walls – everything is in an extremely good condition. Everything has been done to the highest standards and I'm extremely pleased.'

The event is set to take place despite the ongoing tensions in Ukraine. The race control building have been equipped with the latest technology in terms of cameras and recording devices.

Whiting revealed that his trip to the Sochi circuit this week will be his last before Formula One goes there for the first time. He has been extremely impressed with the work that the race organisers in Sochi have done to get the circuit up and running for the race in October which could play a key role in deciding who will win the world championship this season.

Sochi is the latest in a list of venues which has recently joined the F1 calendar and the project was worked on by former Yas Marina circuit director in Abu Dhabi, Ireland's Richard Creegan who did a sensational job at that circuit which will host the final race of the season in 2014 so he will ensure that the race in Sochi is a massive success.
