Mallya against double points

(Sahara Force India Force India Formula One Team)

Sahara Force India Formula One Team boss Dr Vijay Mallya believes that awarding double points in the final race of the 2014 season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is 'illogical'. Mallya whose team are currently in fifth place in the Constructors championship just one point ahead of the McLaren Mercedes team.

The Silverstone based outfit have had a fantastic 2014 season so far and headed into the Summer break having scored points in every Grand Prix with the exception of the Hungarian Grand Prix where neither driver finished the race. Sergio Perez scored the teams first podium since the 2009 Belgian Grand Prix when he finished the Bahrain night race in third place.

Mallya said that he does not see the logic in double points for the final race due to the fact that his or any other team have a fantastic race in Brazil it could all be for nothing because any advantage they get for the end of the season will be wiped out with double points being awarded.

Sahara Force India are currently 44 points behind Ferrari who occupy third place in the Constructors championship with eight Grand Prix remaining this season.

The Silverstone based outfit have two extremely talented drivers in Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez who have both done an absolutely fantastic job for the team who will be hoping to get back into the points next weekend at the Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa Francorchamps circuit.
