Max Chilton voluntarily stepped aside from his Marussia race seat for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps, that is the claim of his PR company who issued a statement on behalf of the Britain. The statement read:

'Max Chilton has volunteered to step out of his race seat for this weekend's race at Spa to allow the team to attract much-needed funds by selling his seat," Max will attend the race and be on hand to support the team in any way possible.'

This season is Chilton's second season with the Banbury based outfit after he made his Formula One debut at the 2013 Australian Grand Prix.

The Britain's PR company went on to say that they expect him to be back in the seat for the next race the Italian Grand Prix in Monza which takes place from 5 - 7 September. The Marussia team are currently in 9th place in the Constructors championship on 2 points following Jules Bianchi's 9th place at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this season.
