Rossi confirms contract talks with Haas Formula over 2016 F1 seat

New Marussia F1 Team test and reserve driver Alexander Rossi has confirmed that he has spoken to Gene Haas' new Haas Formula Team who will make their Grand Prix debut in 2016. It was announced recently that Rossi who joined Caterham in 2011 had left the team following the team buy out by a Middle Eastern consortium. Rossi then confirmed that he was moving to the Marussia F1 Team.

Speaking to crash.net Rossi revealed:

'I am thrilled for Haas, his passion and commitment to entry F1 and bring Americans closer to the sport deserves serious respect.'

It makes sense as Rossi has experience driving the new era Formula One car with the V6 turbocharged power previously stated that units and the energy recovery systems which will be pivotal for Haas and his new team as prepare to to take the plunge into the world of Formula One. Haas has stated his F1 project is not a short term project and that the outfit are in for the long haul.

Rossi has stated that he would love to be racing in Formula One and if the opportunity arises with Haas he will be ready to go.

Rossi will for now spend time working in the Marussia simulator and travelling to Grand Prix with the Banbury based outfit. It is unclear whether or not Rossi will drive with the team in Free Practice One for this years US Grand Prix in Austin Texas in November.
