(Florent Gooden DPPI for Renault Sport F1)
Multiple Grand Prix winner and rising Red Bull star Daniel Ricciardo has backed fellow Red Bull driver Carlos Sainz Jnr to enter Formula One saying that it would be extremely beneficial for the Spaniard (son of World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz) to enter Formula One with a Formula One back marker like he did with HRT in 2011.
Sainz Jnr who is currently racing in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series reportedly held talks with the new management at the Caterham F1 Team however Infiniti Red Bull acing boss Christian Horner has told him to concentrate on securing the Formula Renault 3.5 Series title rather then getting distracted by what might happen in Formula One.
However Ricciardo believes that a stint at the like of Caterham or Marussia would go a long way in creating a platform for the Spanish rookie to establish himself in Formula One just as Ricciardo did.
Ricciardo stepped up to Toro Rosso in 2012 and and did a great job for the Italian team last season and has now stepped up to Infiniti Red Bull Racing and since arriving at the team he has comprehensively held off the challenge from quadruple world champion team mate Sebastian Vettel and took victory in Hungary last time out and also at the Canadian Grand Prix.
Sainz Jnr is hopeful that he will get some more F1 time at some stage in the future having impressed for Red Bull while testing for the team at Young Driver Test in Silverstone last season.
