Sahara Force India Belgian Grand Prix Preview

(Sahara Force India Formula One Team)

The Sahara Force India F1 Team head to this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps the first race following the Summer break looking to bounce back from a disappointing Hungarian Grand Prix which saw neither Nico Hulkenberg or Sergio finish the race. The Silverstone based outfit had up until that point scored point's in every race of the season and come back from the Summer break in 5th place in the Constructors championship on 98 points.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's race team principal Dr Vijay Mallya stated that following an impressive start to the season the outfit were due a little bit of of bad luck. Mallya felt the DNF's were a missed opportunity to score some extremely valuable points for the team.

Mallya was delighted that the team went into the Summer break in fifth place in the Constructors championship and believes that the outfit will be in a position to finish in fourth place place in the Constructors championship and believes that there are some big opportunities to score big points over the final eight Grand Prix of the season.

It has been five years since the teams first pole position and podium finish which came at the 2009 Belgian Grand Prix and since then the team has gone from strength to strength. Earlier this season the outfit picked up another podium finish when Sergio Perez finished the Bahrain Grand Prix in third place.

Mallya feels that with the Mercedes power unit in the back of the VJM07 it should prove to be beneficial to them due to the fast sweeping nature of the Spa Francorchamps circuit.

Nico Hulkenberg is feeling refreshed and ready to back racing after spending the Summer break at home in Switzerland. The German is feeling upbeat about the second half of the 2014 Formula One season. He expects there to be an extremely close battle in the second half of the season and he hopes to pick up some good points.

The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps is one of his favourite circuits on the calendar and he feels that the mix of high speed straights and tight corners the car need be efficient. Hulkenberg goes to Spa in 7th place in the championship on 69 points, 19 points behind reigning world championship Sebastian Vettel.

Sergio 'Checco' Perez spent his Summer break at home in Mexico with his family as he doesn't get much time to travel home over the course of the season.

Heading to the Spa Francorchamps circuit and he is looking forward to the intensity of the circuit which is extremely fast and he is looking forward to seeing if the drivers can still take the famous Eau Rouge corner flat out.

The Mexican's target for the Belgian Grand Prix is to score points as he has never managed to do that at the Spa Francorchamps circuit.
