No repeat of 2014 next season

Hungarian Grand Prix
(Alastair Staley for Lotus F1 Team)

Lotus F1 Team technical director Nick Chester believes that the his outfit won't have a repeat of the struggles that the Enstone outfit have suffered so far this season. Lotus have managed just two top ten finishes from eleven Grand Prix starts and as a result the team are currently in 8th place in the Constructors championship on eight points.

The team have suffered a number of reliability issues with the Renault power unit over the course of the season however Chester believes that this is not the only issue facing his team.

Chester believes that moving forward for next season the team can learn lessons from this years car and come back from the winter break in a stronger position then they were in at the start of this season as this year it was an unknown formula.

Now the grid know what to expect from the new cars and how they react in certain situations which means that if there is a problem with the car it can now be sorted out a lot faster then it would have been at the start of the season. In both 2012 and last season Lotus were regularly challenging for Grand Prix victories and podiums and it is hoped that next season the team will once again be in a position to challenge for podium's next season.

It terms of their driver line up it is important that the team maintain continuity. Pastor Maldonado is contracted to the the team for next season while Romain Grosjean is yet to announce what his plans are for next season.
