Sahara Force India's Chief Operating Officer Otmar Szafnauer believes the teams decision to begin development of their 2014 car early on during the 2013 season has played a crucial part in the teams great start to the 2014 season which sees the Silverstone based outfit in fifth place in the Constructors championship just point ahead of McLaren Mercedes.
The team had hoped to finish the 2013 season in 5th place in the Constructors championship but were pipped by the McLaren Mercedes team.
So far in 2014 the team have scored point's in every Grand Prix with the exception of the Hungarian Grand Prix last time out when neither Nico Hulkenberg nor Sergio Perez failed to finish the race. The team have also scored their first podium in five season's at the Bahrain night race earlier this season.
The team have worked extremely hard this season and that work is paying off. So far in 2014 the team have score 21 more point's then they did last season. In 2013 the team scored 77 points while so far this season they have scored 98 points which is sure to increase as the season reaches its climax. From now until the end of September there are three Grand Prix with Belgium, Italy and Singapore coming up.
The team like all their rivals will head to the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps in two weeks time with an upgrade package for the VJM07 which they hope will help them to extend their points advantage over McLaren.
