The Caterham F1 Team have been granted permission to compete in next season's Formula One world championship with their 2014 car by the FIA as a way of the team to save money. The Leafield based outfits administrator Finbarr O'Connell has confirmed that he is in serious talks with a number of potential buyers for the team.
O'Connell initially stated that following the season finale in Abu Dhabi there was a three week window in which to get the team sold and that a new owner would hopefully be in place before Christmas.
However Mr O'Connell has now confirmed that the outfit have more time to find a buyer as the news that the team can use the 2014 car will be an attractive prospect for any potential new owner.
Speaking to the Press Association, Mr O'Connell stated that from from his point of view the earlier the team can find a buyer the better. It is also also great news for the teams 230 staff who were made redundant however Smith Williamson have stated that any new buyer must re hire the staff.
