There are three weeks to go until Winter testing getting underway in Jerez, Spain and the Lotus F1 Team are the only team yet to confirm who their engine supplier will be.
It is expected that the team will remain with Renault who have supplied engines to the Enstone based squad since the French manufacturer sold the team to Genii Capital in 2011. The Renault-Enstone collaboration has delivered some fantastic results for both parties so I don't see any reason why Renault would decide to leave the team.
It is extremely late in the the development process of the 2014 car to still be deciding what engine supplier to be going with this season. However, I have no doubt that the team know who they will be sticking with Renault and that they will be announcing a deal once they have the funding in place for 2014. We are still waiting for news on the Quantom Motorsport Investment deal but in my opinion, the fact that the team have signed Pastor Maldonado for this season tells me that the deal is dead in the water, as Maldonado bringing around 15 million with him in sponsorship money, that is just my opinion, the deal may still go ahead.
Over the last two season's Lotus have punched above their weight and it is going to be extremely interesting to see how the team get on this season. Kimi Raikkonen won two race's during his time at Enstone now with question marks over their finances the big question is will the team be able to continue to challenge the front runners?
Only time will tell whether or not the team will be able to repeat their success of the 2013 season. It is also going to be extremely interesting to see how the Marussia F1 Team get on with Ferrari power and whether or not the new engine supply will enable them to score their world championship points this season.
It is also going to be very interesting to see how the Williams F1 Team get on this season with their new Mercedes engine.
