German prosecutors are set to accept an £60 million out of court settlement with Formula One commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone which will see the the Englishman bribery case come to an end.
Ecclestone has been on trial for bribery and incitement to breach trust since April. Ecclestone paid £44 million to German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky. Ecclestone's defense lawyer Sven Thomas has stated that the deal means:
'It is a settlement without any conviction, the presumption of innocence is still valid. That was a condition under which I negotiated.
Ecclestone will remain in charge of the sport.
